New & Full Moon bath ritual – cleansing and detoxification

New moon & Full moon bath ritual – cleansing and detoxification

New Moon & Full Moon bath ritual is very simple, just add some mineral bath salt into warm water.

Himalayan bath salt

Himalayan bath salt is what I have used as I find it readily available.  It is reported to contain 84 elements and minerals that occur naturally in the ocean, and earth.  The salts retain the memory of the earth. Just as the ocean reacts to the cycles of the moon, the potency of the salt also reacts to the moon phases.   Baths with sea salt are nice any day but particularly effective on the New Moon and Full Moon.

See the unique crystalline beauty of the salts, I photographed them  below:

New Moon

New moons are a time of magic and beginnings, also the body’s capacity for detoxification is at its’ highest.

Full Moon

On a full moon the body’s absorption potential is at its’ peak, it is the optimum time for the body to absorb the minerals from the salt bath.

The fusion of minerals of the salt crystals with hot water in the bath combine to create beneficial frequencies and vibrations which help to rebalance the bodies energy field, imitating that of a natural hot spring.  I felt it immediately the first time I took this bath.

The skin is the largest organ of elimination in the human body, hot water opens the pores, thus a salt bath allows for a natural and enjoyable release of toxins.  This may account for the many reported therapeutic benefits:

-Softer skin

-Stress reducion

- Alkalizes tissues – reducing acidity in body

- Re-mineralization of body

- Increased Circulation

- Deep Relaxation

- Increased Oxygenation of tissues & cells

- Effective treatment for skin irritations, (psoriasis, eczema and dry skin problems)

Many ancient cultures have incorporated natural mineral salt baths in their rituals for healing and cleansing.  The website for Grail springs spa, states that a salt bath on a New Moon  has the same cleansing effect as a 3 day fast.  I don’t know about you, but I would definitely prefer to have a salt bath!

  1. Add one cup (approx one fist full)  of sea bath salt to warm bath
  2. Add essential oils if you like (i.e. lavender)
  3. Light a candle, initiate, set intentions

I purchase  Himalayan bath salt from the health food store and/or my local farmer’s market.

ENJOY! I have a salt bath much more than twice a month, but always make a point on the New Moon & Full Moon.

What are your new moon rituals?

Let me know the effects you notice when you have a salt bath.
